SpringDance

We offer a variety of after-school and evening dance classes and workshops for children and teens in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Whether you have been dancing for years, or are just flexing your heels for the first time, you will find a place in our inclusive dance community. We have a dynamic group of class offerings this spring, which culminate in a recital performance at the Hudson Valley Beltane Festival (scroll down to learn more).

Student Conduct & Expectations

The following guidelines are designed to ensure a safe, positive and respectful experience for everyone involved in our dance classes/ programs. We appreciate your cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

Age Policy

Our classes are designed for specific age groups: 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-12, and 13+. We strongly encourage students to meet the minimum age requirement before enrolling. Exceptions may be made for children close to the required age if the teacher and parents/ caregivers agree the child can handle the older class. If a teacher feels a class isn't suitable for a student, they may ask the student to move to the appropriate age group class.

Attendance Commitment

By enrolling in our classes, you commit to attend and participate fully in all scheduled sessions, barring unforeseen emergencies or illness. Please make every effort to attend all classes and notify us in advance if you or your child will be absent. Students who repeatedly miss classes without valid reasons may not be able to participate in our institute performances (such as Into the Light).

Class Preparedness

  • Students must either be changed and ready for class before arriving or be supervised by a parent/caregiver (age 18+) if changing in a bathroom on premises.

  • Students should dress in stretchy, “danceable” attire. No jeans / tight, stiff clothing.

  • Barefoot is great. If students prefer, they may wear ballet slippers or jazz shoes. No socks alone as they are slippery.

  • Long hair should be pulled away from face.

  • As best as possible, try to avoid sending your child into class with added distractions (rocks/trinkets in pockets, toys*, loose-fitting hats, etc. *Stuffies are always welcome to watch class from the sidelines🙂).

  • Students should always carry a pre-filled water bottle into class.

  • Tap shoes will not be needed for FallDance this semester.

Representing the Company

When participating in classes/ programs  at The Vanaver Caravan, you represent our company. It is important to uphold our values and treat the spaces we use, as well as the people who share these spaces, with utmost respect.

  • Please be on time for drop-off & pick-up. Students must be supervised by an adult (age 18+) at all times.

  • Students and parents/guardians are only permitted to enter designated areas such as the bathroom and dance studio (students and families are not to use the playground at Mountain Laurel School).

  • Tampering with, removing, or touching any equipment or property without permission is strictly prohibited. Violators will be subject to indefinite suspension from all classes / programs and activities.

  • Parking and Driving Etiquette: Please be considerate of others when parking or driving near our studios. Exercise caution and adhere to any posted regulations to ensure the safety and convenience of all.

  • The consumption of drugs, alcohol or tobacco on any premises is strictly prohibited at all times. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy regarding substance use to uphold a safe environment for all participants. Violators will be subject to immediate suspension from all classes/ programs  and activities.

The Vanaver Caravan cares deeply about the health, safety, and well-being of all of our community members.

  • At this time, masks are optional but encouraged when indoors (especially during cold & flu season).

  • Please keep your child home if they show any signs of illness.

  • If a student appears unwell during class, we will ask for them to be picked up immediately.

Thank you for doing your part in keeping our community safe.

Refunds

If a student needs to withdraw within three weeks after the series starts, The Vanaver Caravan will refund 50% of the unused tuition fee (minus a $30 admin fee), or the balance can be donated to the Betsey Bergman Memorial scholarship fund. No refunds will be issued after three weeks of classes.

Cancellations & Snow Closings

  • Classes at MaMA in Stone Ridge follow Rondout Valley Public School’s snow closings and cancellations.

  • Classes at Mountain Laurel in New Paltz follow Mountain Laurel Waldorf School’s snow closings and cancellations.

  • Please check local closings if there is inclement weather forecasted.

  • In the event of a last minute snow closing/early dismissal, TVC will send an email (to the email address used at registration) no later than 3pm.
