INTO THE LIGHT

A HOLIDAY TALE OF HOPE

It’s not often that a holiday show can rival the splendor and enchantment of “The Nutcracker.” But … The Vanaver Caravan and Arm-of-the-Sea Theater [have produced] a fanciful, multicultural dance, music, and theater spectacular that has become a Hudson Valley holiday tradition with a staying power all its own.

ABOUT INTO THE LIGHT:

Into the Light first premiered in 2005, and has since become a beacon of holiday hope and cheer in the Hudson Valley. Conceived by Patrick Wadden, Livia Vanaver, Miranda Way (nee: ten Broeke) and Isabel Cottingham, the fairytale-like story of Into the Light follows a young girl as she struggles to find joy and hope in a winter with no sunlight.

As she grows up, Lucia leaves her sunny village and journeys into the cold, haunted forests of the winter star. In her darkest moment, she is helped by a kind old Bear, who guides Lucia around the world--to see how people, everywhere, keep the light of hope alive in the cold months of winter.

Into the Light wraps up all the magic of Arm of the Sea Theater's giant puppets into the celebratory vision of The Vanaver Caravan's world dance repertoire. The performance raises our spirits and awareness for cultural traditions, using the winter holiday season as common ground.
